Apple’s original iPad was announced in January 2010 on the heels of its successful touchscreen iPhone and iPod Touch devices. 300,000 iPads were sold on its first day of availability in April 2010 and sold 1 million units by May 3rd of that year. Initially, the iPad was outfitted with Apple’s A4 mobile processor, WiFi, bluetooth, headphone jack, microphone, and speaker but no camera, front- or rear-facing. A 3G version was also available for cellular data connection.
